Worse news for the Skåne team was that goalkeeper Robin Olsen was substituted at half-time because of an injury.

"A feeling," says Malmö's press officer Frida Ardemark, according to Aftonbladet.

In Olsen's place came Johan Dahlin. The veteran goalkeeper has not played since October 2024, first due to a cruciate ligament injury and then due to the competitive situation for the goalkeeper position at MFF last season.

Erik Botheim opened the scoring with a penalty. Malte Persson equalized for Halmstad in the closing stages of the first half, but Anders Christiansen scored the winning goal shortly afterwards to make it 2–1.
