Canadian MacKinnon scored his first point of the game with the 2–1 goal in the eighth minute of the second period.
A few minutes later, Olofsson further strengthened the team's lead with a wrist shot.
"It's always nice to score goals, and I consider myself a guy who should put some pucks in the net. Of course it's frustrating when they don't go in, but I think we've played pretty well the last few weeks," the 30-year-old said after the game, according to nhl.com.
However, MacKinnon was again involved in both of Colorado's last two goals of the game. First, he set up Artturi Lehkonen for the 4–2 goal before scoring the decisive goal himself in the 17th minute of the final period.
"I want to play well, feel good, help the team. In my head, it could go away any day, so I'm not enjoying (any milestones) right now," MacKinnon said, according to nhl.com.
