The 46-year-old, formerly a star in NHL, took over Timrå over a year ago and led the team to a sixth place in SHL last season. In the playoffs, it ended in the quarterfinals against Frölunda.
Now Olli Jokinen chooses to break the contract.
"The solution we have found is the best possible for the parties involved, we thank Olli for his efforts and wish him good luck. Our work to find his replacement begins immediately", says Timrå's chairman Lars Backlund in a statement.
According to Aftonbladet, which was the first to report on the coach's departure, Jokinen is said to be clear for a yet unnamed club.
Earlier this year, another Finn, then sports manager Kimmo Kapanen, left Timrå for a move back home to Finland and the Uleåborg club Kärpät.
