The emergency services were called to the scene on Sunday morning and clean-up work has been ongoing throughout the day in collaboration with the Urban Environment Administration, the Environmental Administration and the police.
According to authorities' estimates, the oil has spread over a kilometer and a half along the Kvillebäcken stream. It is unclear how much oil is involved and where the oil is coming from.
One theory is that this may have something to do with the heavy rain that came in on Saturday and that it has somehow been washed out, Peter Johansson from the rescue service tells the newspaper.
Several birds are reported to have been caught in the spill and the animal ambulance has been on site.
Clean-up work continues on Monday.
