Fears of inflation, linked to rising oil prices, have caused interest rates to rise worldwide.
This has caused the Stockholm Stock Exchange to fall broadly. On the heavyweight list OMXS30, 29 out of 30 shares fell. Several of the engineering giants were listed at the bottom, including Assa Abloy and ABB, which fell 3.5 and 3.2 percent respectively.
Leading stock markets in Europe also fell on Wednesday. Early trading on Wall Street also points downward.
Oil prices continue to rise as the conflict between Iran and the United States continues. A barrel of North Sea oil cost just over $101 on Wednesday.
