The Iran war is back in focus in the market. Three new Iranian ship attacks on Tuesday were followed by the reinstatement of US oil sanctions against Iran and bombings of targets in the country, to which Iran has responded with missiles and drones against oil facilities in the region.

The price of North Sea oil (Brent) rose almost 3 percent to $76.60 per barrel, the highest price since June 18. The price of fossil gas followed suit, up 3.9 percent to €45.65 per megawatt hour on the Amsterdam Commodity Exchange.

Analysts warn that this week's fighting threatens the ceasefire agreement reached in June.
