It has been so successful that the newspaper can afford to send employees to North America to primarily cover the Swedish national team.
"A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported our World Cup effort. We are overwhelmed and can now count 242,250 kronor in donations from 1,049 people. It's incredible what great readers and listeners we have," the newspaper writes in a press release.
Sweden opens the World Cup against Tunisia in Monterrey, Mexico, on June 15, then faces the Netherlands in Houston (June 20) and concludes the group stage against Japan in Dallas (June 26), where the national team is also based.
