An offshore wind farm in Gävlebukten has come one step closer.

The County Administrative Board gives a thumbs up to the Olof Skötkonung project, which can provide a maximum effect of 1,625 MW and produce approximately 7.5 TWh of electricity per year, which corresponds to roughly the electricity production from a nuclear reactor.

"In our proposal for a decision, we are simultaneously referring the matter to the Government Offices for further processing," says Governor Stefan Attefall in a press release.

Behind the park is the Norwegian Deep Wind Offshore.

The County Administrative Board's processing of the matter has been ongoing for 1.5 years. However, it is not entirely clear, the environmental permit according to Natura 2000 is not clear and may come to affect the final design of the wind farm, writes the County Administrative Board.
