The authority is launching an investigation into two companies, including Vonage, as it sees a risk of phone numbers being misused.
Ofcom will, among other things, look at customer checks and what procedures companies have in place to ensure that telephone numbers are not used to commit fraud, writes Dagens industri.
“Companies must also take steps to ensure that the numbers are used correctly and in accordance with the national telephone numbering plan,” the authority states on its website.
The acquisition of cloud services company Vonage has been described as a fiasco purchase, as Ericsson was forced to make large write-downs.
