Sales volume in retail trade increased by 0.9 percent in August compared to July, according to new figures from the Statistical Central Bureau.

Above all, it is the so-called occasional purchase trade that is doing well, plus 1.9 percent, while the daily goods trade was unchanged.

"The latest three-month period, June-August, has had the occasional goods trade as the part that has given the largest positive contribution to the development in retail trade. Overall, the sub-branch has increased sales volume by over 6 percent compared to the same period in 2024", says Johan Nyström, statistician at SCB in a press release.
