Sales volume in retail trade increased by 0.9 percent in August compared to June, according to new figures from the Statistical Central Bureau.

Above all, it is the so-called occasional purchase trade that is doing well, plus 1.9 percent, while the daily goods trade was unchanged.

"The latest three-month period, June-August, has been the period when the occasional goods trade has given the largest positive contribution to the development in retail trade. Altogether, the sub-branch has increased the sales volume by over 6 percent compared to the same period 2024", says Johan Nyström, statistician at SCB in a press release.
