Oboist Josef Wijk wins 2026 Anders Wall Music Prize for young wind musicians

Oboist Josef Wijk has been named Sweden’s most promising young wind musician. He will receive the Anders Wall Music Prize 2026, a further education scholarship worth 125,000 kronor. In the final, he performed Óscar Navarro’s “Legacy Concerto”.

“We feel that we are on a journey, a musical story. Time and space stand still during this moment,” the jury writes in its citation.

This year’s competition was organised in collaboration with Stockholm Concert Hall and was held for the first time for wind players. Josef Wijk is from Örebro and started playing at the age of nine at a cultural school. He is currently principal oboist with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra.
