Elvira Öberg shot herself out: "Really bad"

Two misses in prone, two misses in standing. Elvira Öberg had a tough World Cup sprint in French Annecy-Le Grand Bornand. I had all the opportunities to make a good performance and then it becomes really bad again, says the Swede, who finished 32nd, to SVT.

She was the third fastest on the track – but what did it matter when the shooting failed for star Elvira Öberg.

Two misses in the first shooting were followed by two misses in the second, and in the end, the 25-year-old finished 32nd in Annecy-Le Grand Bornand.

It's so disappointing. It has felt so incredibly good in training and I missed more shots now than I have done in two training days together, says Öberg to SVT.

I think I'm doing well in prone but still have two misses.

It's one thing that the sprint is bad, but it also ruins tomorrow (Saturday's pursuit) as well.

Justine Braisaz-Bouchet won in front of the home crowd in France ahead of Franziska Preuss, Germany, and Anamarija Lampic, Slovenia.

Anna Magnusson, with one miss, was the best Swedish athlete, finishing in 10th place.

It was another good race and a lot that was good, but I'm annoyed that I messed up the last shot, says she to SVT.

But it's still good ahead of the pursuit. Then there's a mass start as well.

Hanna Öberg, who was ill before the season start, was on home soil to find her form ahead of the World Championship. Anna-Karin Heijdenberg fell ill in France and went home instead of competing.
