Russia will likely test NATO's defense guarantee "very soon," says Commander-in-Chief Michael Claesson in an interview with Politico.

"I am convinced that they could be ready to test NATO's Article 5 at any time in the Baltic states or in any other part of Europe," he says.

According to Michael Claesson, Russia is prepared to take "enormous strategic risks to achieve everything they believe is possible to achieve."

In recent months, European countries have been hit by a series of incidents. For example, airspace has been violated by Russian fighter jets, GPS interference over the Baltic Sea has continued to increase, and a number of suspicious incidents have occurred with drones at airports.

Earlier this week, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that two Ukrainians working for Russia were behind an explosion on a railway track in eastern Poland.

This is a big problem where they use relatively small resources that have a big effect, says Michael Claesson.

He warns that Moscow will not stop testing NATO even if the war in Ukraine were to end. Instead, the conflict with Russia will take a long time to resolve.

This is something that will not go away with a possible ceasefire or peace agreement in Ukraine.
