The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, begins with the band rehearsing for ten weeks. In an opening scene, Noel enters, says hello, starts the rehearsal and then leaves the venue.
To avoid disturbing the band members with cameramen, the production set up about ten cameras in the venue, which filmed everything.
"In those six weeks, they didn't see us on the tour once," says Dylan Southern, who directed the film with Lovelace.
Got to film freely
Famous cinematographers were hired in several cities during the world tour. They were allowed to film freely, on stage or out in the audience. They captured the emotions of many fans who had been grieving since the brothers split up the band after a fight in Paris.
One fan said: "When they closed it down it felt like losing a child." It's touching, screenwriter Steven Knight tells TT.
Sound editing was the only thing the brothers wanted to handle in post-production. The film is made to be shown in IMAX and with loud sound.
The world tour is depicted over the film's two hours, and the story is also told through old clips about the band's history.
"I had worked with Noel and we got along well. He suggested a film, we contacted Liam and he agreed," Knight says.
Swedish premiere
But how do you write a script for something that is going to be made into a documentary? He laughs.
I had to work the other way around. Watch the recorded material and then write based on that what it would look like.
This Friday, the film will be released in cinemas in Sweden, among other places, and will soon also be available on Disney+.
The Gallagher brothers arrived on Saturday afternoon on the festival island of Lido, and from early morning fans gathered at the red carpet for tonight's gala screening.
There were hopes that they would both come to the official press conference, but they stayed away.
