Nylander Thrilled to Play in Sweden After Win Over Czech Republic

Victory against the Czech Republic in the finals. The journey home to Sweden bore fruit for William Nylander. It was brutal, it's special to play here at home in Sweden, says the Toronto star after 5–2 against the Czech Republic.

A sold-out (12,530 spectators) and boiling Globe Arena experienced a fairly pleasant journey for Tre Kronor after a dream start with 3–0 in the first period.

Now, a day off awaits before the USA awaits in the semifinal on Saturday afternoon.

I'm a bit tired, but it's just a matter of going to bed tonight, says Nylander.

When he arrived on Wednesday evening, his father Michael had fixed a training session for him on the ice.

It was necessary, otherwise I would have been too slow today, he says.

About the USA in the semifinal, he says:

It's going to be tough, every team is good, so it's going to be fun.

Praising Raymond

Nylander took a place in a first line with two-goal scorer Lucas Raymond and center William Karlsson.

I and Raymond played power play together in Four Nations and I've played with Karlsson before in the World Championship, he says.

Nylander was point-less in his first match and had 17.24 in ice time.

He was delighted with his line mate Lucas Raymond's two goals.

He was great, what fine goals he scores. I think we found each other out there, he says.

National team coach Sam Hallam was pleased with the star's first match.

He has presence out there, his way of moving, it's nice for us to see and it's tough for the opponents. Now he gets another two days to prepare for Saturday, so then he'll be even more energetic, says Hallam.

"It's hockey"

Most people had believed in Switzerland as opponents for Tre Kronor in the semifinal.

But after Denmark's upset victory over Canada, it's the USA.

It's hockey. Anyone who tries to predict things, that's what happens. It's going to be played out, a goalie who does well and a team that fights, then it can get tough for the team that's expected to win.

The USA, Hallam doesn't have a clue about. It'll be a job for Friday.

Then we'll take a look at them. They had a good last match against the Czechs in the group stage, I saw them a bit against Finland, a good team and skilled players. More than that, I can't say, says he.
