NHL star William Nylander has been fined $5,000, equivalent to just under 45,000 Swedish kronor, after he showed his middle finger on television.

It was during Monday night's 4-1 loss at Colorado that television cameras swept over Toronto's injured players in the stands, and Nylander appeared to point his finger at the camera.

A press release from the NHL states: "Nylander's gesture is a violation of league policy."

He previously apologized for the "moment of frustration," saying he did not mean to upset anyone.
