Nylander faces trade deadline, says it would be tough

Toronto could miss out on the Stanley Cup. Amid the difficult situation, several stars could also be forced to leave, including Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

William Nylander, Scott Laughton and Bobby McCann had to sit out the game against New Jersey to avoid getting injured just before Friday's trade deadline.

"It would be tough to see all three leave. I don't even want to think about it happening," said William Nylander after the game, which New Jersey won in a shootout (4–3).

Toronto is currently in 13th place in the Eastern Conference and there is a strong chance the storied NHL franchise will miss the playoffs.

"It feels a little strange to be in this position. I don't know if I really understand it. We can still make it; it's tight, but if we don't, it will be tough," said Nylander.
