The introduction was relatively tight, when the first period was over it was 1-1, with Oliver Ekman-Larsson credited with an assist when home team's Max Domi scored 1-0.

In the middle act, Toronto took command. First, Nylander made it 2-1, then Auston Matthews extended the lead thanks to another assist from Ekman-Larsson, followed by Nylander's two assists up to 5-1.

In the beginning of the period, Calle Järnkok also got a point, setting up 6-1 before the guests' Kevin Bahl narrowed the final score with just over a minute left to play.

The win was much-needed for Toronto, who had lost five of their last six matches before the game.
