The goal came 3:59 into extra time. Assisted by Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Nylander was able to score the 4–3 goal when the blue-and-yellow duo counterattacked.
I didn't know if Oliver was going to pass or shoot, but he passed the puck to me and I managed to get it between the goalie's legs, William Nylander told reporters in the locker room after the victory.
Colorado hadn't lost at home since October 17, but Toronto made sure the streak stopped at 17 straight home games without a loss.
A great victory, a team effort, Nylander said.
The Swedish star made a comeback this weekend after missing six straight games due to a lower-body injury.
Against Colorado, Nylander - like Ekman-Larsson - also provided an assist for Auston Matthews' 3-2 goal. Both Toronto players have been selected for Sweden's squad for the Olympics in Milan in February.
