US envoy Steve Witkoff is to meet with representatives from mediator countries Qatar and Egypt, as well as Turkey, to discuss phase two of the ceasefire between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas.
The first phase, which is nearing completion, has involved the exchange of hostages and prisoners and a withdrawal of Israeli military.
Phase two is described as more difficult. It will see Israeli forces retreat further, Hamas lay down its arms, a transitional government be established, and an international force guarantee security.
Talks about the war in Ukraine are also expected in Miami this weekend.
