Semiconductor giant Nvidia is being demanded information by the US Department of Justice, following concerns that the company has breached competition laws, reports Bloomberg citing sources.
The department has sent out legally binding requests to several companies, forcing them to provide information about their operations.
Among other things, concerns are being expressed that Nvidia has deliberately hindered switches to other chip suppliers, and that the company punishes buyers who do not exclusively use Nvidia's products when it comes to AI operations. The Department of Justice's demands are reportedly a step towards a potential lawsuit against the company.
Nvidia's share has fallen by around 9.5 percent on Tuesday, and continued to fall in after-hours trading.
It is unclear which other companies are affected by the Department of Justice's investigation.
