After seven straight trading days in the red, things turned around for chipmaker Nvidia on the stock market. The stock rose 2.2 percent ahead of Wednesday, when the company reports its interim results after the stock market closes.
The broad-based S&P 500 index and the Dow Jones industrial average both rose 0.3 percent. The tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 0.7 percent.
The stock market cheer comes at a time when falling oil prices have pushed long-term market interest rates down. A barrel of North Sea oil cost $87.6 on Tuesday evening, down from $92.2 the day before.
