Nvidia - led by Jensen Huang - is thus entering a segment of the processor market that has long been dominated by companies like Intel.
The stock market is in a good mood. Nvidia shares are up 2.4 percent in futures trading, while competitors like Intel, Qualcomm and AMD are falling.
The RTX Spark Superchip is the name of the new Nvidia product, which was unveiled at the Computex technology show in Taiwan. It will be launched in laptops and desktops this fall, including in computers manufactured by Dell Technologies and Lenovo Group.
California-based Nvidia has long been a dominant player in gaming processors and AI infrastructure.
