"Jensen Huang is appointed honorary doctor of technology for his groundbreaking contributions to the development of graphics processors. These form the technical basis for AI development today", the university writes in a press release.
Huang founded Nvidia in 1993. The company has since become one of the highest valued listed companies in the world. Nvidia's graphics processors are used in supercomputers worldwide, including a supercomputer for AI and machine learning at Linköping University.
The Speaker of the Riksdag, Andreas Norlén, is also appointed honorary doctor at the university, as well as Angela Woods, professor at Durham University, and Gillian Einstein, professor at the University of Toronto.
