The aircraft carrier is 261.5 meters long and is the world's largest non-American nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

The ship was scheduled to arrive in Malmö on Wednesday as part of NATO's regular exercises.

According to the Swedish Maritime Administration's press service, the earlier-than-planned arrival was due to unfavorable weather conditions on Wednesday.

In preparation for the visit, the County Administrative Board of Skåne has introduced a preparedness zone and a planning zone in Malmö with radii of two and nine kilometers from the ship, respectively. The purpose is to be able to implement protective measures if an accident should occur.

However, the County Administrative Board assesses the likelihood of an incident occurring as extremely small, according to a press release.

The Armed Forces describe the visit to Sweden as a sign of cooperation that strengthens the "collective defense of Europe".
