The facility in Copenhagen - where chips for quantum computers will be developed, designed and manufactured - will be operated by the company Quantum Foundry Copenhagen, according to a press release.

The Novo Nordisk Fund - which has so far invested 2.9 billion in quantum technology - initially plans to invest around 400 million Danish kroner (almost 600 million SEK) in the factory.

But more money will be needed to get production up and running within two years as planned, according to Peter Krogstrup, CEO of Quantum Foundry Copenhagen.
