Novo presented new goals for the coming years on Monday. But the announcement did not impress, and the share price fell sharply on the Copenhagen stock exchange.
The company, which recently changed its name from Novo Nordisk, may consider exploring a new market: hair loss.
"We could use our scientific knowledge to potentially enter that area," research director Martin Lange told Bloomberg.
Novo, which is behind the drugs Ozempic and Wegovy, has lost its leading position in the development of obesity drugs, not least to American competitor Eli Lilly. It is therefore turning its attention to new potential markets.
The Danish company has been under a lot of pressure recently. The stock has lost more than 20 percent since the turn of the year.
Trust is gone, as yesterday's reaction showed, and it takes time and hard work to build it back up, says CEO Mike Doustdar.
