A boost for the pharmaceutical sector contributed to a boost for Denmark's GDP in the third quarter, preliminary figures from the country show.

According to preliminary figures, the country's GDP rose 2.3 percent in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter. This is the highest growth in almost four years. Excluding pharmaceutical companies, GDP would have only risen 0.7 percent in the latest quarter.

"Overall GDP growth in the near future will largely depend on how Novo Nordisk performs," Danske Bank's chief economist Las Olsen told Bloomberg.
