Tennis legend Novak Djokovic was one of the founders of the Players' Association (PTPA). Now, the 38-year-old is stepping down from the organization.

"It has become clear that my values no longer align with the organization's current direction," the 24-time grand slam winner wrote on Instagram and X.

Djokovic believes that the PTPA is governed without transparency and that his vote has been used improperly. The union said in a brief statement that the organization is governed by the players and has open communication, according to Reuters.

In the spring of 2025, the players' union sued several tennis organizations, including the men's ATP Tour and the women's WTA Tour. The union believed the organizations were operating like a cartel and that the players' welfare was being ignored.

According to Reuters, Djokovic disagreed with the PTPA about some of the allegations against the organizations.

The Serb founded the players' union in 2020 with Canadian Vasek Pospisil.
