It was set to be a huge success when Saturday's 50km race was scheduled to be held in Holmenkollen. But then a thick fog settled over the ski stadium on the outskirts of Oslo.
In the fog, the audience saw the home riders largely dominate. In the decisive run-up - after just over 49 kilometers - six Norwegians were fighting for victory. The strongest was Einar Hedegart, who won ahead of Harald Östberg Amundsen in second and Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget in third.
The best non-Norwegian was France's Victor Lovera, who finished ninth. The best Swede was Leo Johansson, who finished in 13th place.
