The Swedes fell away early from the fight for the top in Kontiolahti, Finland.
Martin Ponsiluoma missed in both of his opening two prone series, a total of two misses.
He then shot well in both of his standing series and was finally able to finish fifth, 32 seconds behind Sturla Holm Lægreid - who made headlines during the Olympics when he revealed that he had been unfaithful.
The Norwegian, who shot well, won ahead of World Cup leader Frenchman Eric Perrot, who had a miss. Perrot was 16.5 seconds behind.
Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen of Norway finished third.
Sebastian Samuelsson also had two crashes, struggled on the course and finished 15th.
