Fewer Norwegian tourists chose to stay overnight in Sweden this year compared to last year, reports Sweden's Radio. The number of overnight stays decreased by almost 100,000 during the first three months compared to last year, according to statistics from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.
One explanation for fewer tourists visiting Sweden may be that the Norwegian krone has weakened against the Swedish krone.
"It's simply not as attractive anymore to go to Sweden, it's not as cheap", says Dieter Müller, vice-rector and tourism researcher at Umeå University to the radio.
