Norwegian international Aron Dønnum has been accused of making a racist gesture during a French league match, and the Toulouse prosecutor's office has launched a preliminary investigation.

The Norwegian football winger, who currently plays for French league team Toulouse, is accused of making a racist gesture towards Le Havre midfielder Simon Ebonog during a match in Ligue 1 on November 2.

Dønnum will be heard by the league's disciplinary committee, but denies that his gesture was racist.

Prosecutor David Charmatz tells L'Equipe:

For me, it is a given not to leave this kind of behavior solely to football officials, although I note that the league's disciplinary committee is addressing the offense, which shows the desire to ban racist gestures in sports arenas.
