Harald Østberg Amundsen has taken home two of four stages so far under Tour de Ski – which he won last season – but the 26-year-old is now leaving Italy and is on his way home to Norway.
Amundsen won both the New Year's Day pursuit and the 20-kilometer race on New Year's Eve. He is third in the overall standings – 57 seconds behind his compatriot Johannes Høsflot Klæbo. Swede Edvin Anger is second in the total and is 36 seconds behind Klæbo. New overall third is Mika Vermeulen, Austria, who is 1 minute and 23 seconds behind Klæbo.
Amundsen has won two more World Cup races this season and leads the overall standings.
Earlier during Tour de Ski, the Swedish women's national team has been affected by withdrawals due to illness. Both Johanna Hagström and Maja Dahlqvist have abandoned and gone home with cold symptoms.
Tour de Ski continues with a sprint in classic style in Val di Fiemme on Friday. On Saturday, a 20-kilometer skiathlon awaits, before everything is decided with a climb up the slalom hill Alpe Cermis on Sunday.
