The Norwegian Ski Federation must save 27 million kronor in two years after the deficit from the home World Championship. Amidst the crisis comes a piece of good news for the Norwegian skiers: this year's cross-country effort is not affected.

We will not be affected this winter. Going forward, we will have result requirements placed on us. We must review the organization and how we deliver. It will affect us, but right now we are holding on to the level of activity we have planned, says cross-country chief Cathrine Instebø.

Exactly how and where the association will save is still unclear.

The deficit affects the entire association. There is an ongoing central process with downsizing, and we are looking at how we can strengthen our economy. But for cross-country skiing, it's now about focusing on what we're going to do this season, says Instebø.

Prior to the World Championship in Trondheim, the organizer expected a surplus of 15-20 million kronor, but the championship instead ended with a deficit of 37 million.
