If you drive at 110 instead of 100 on the highway, no one says anything. If you drive at 120, you have to count on being caught by the laser gun. If you drive at 140, it gets even more expensive. If you drive at 160, you lose your driver's license, and if you drive 160 without a license and under the influence of alcohol, the penalty becomes significantly higher, says Karl Geiger to the German TV channel ARD.
The Norwegians exploited the rules for their own gain and tried to circumvent the entire system, says Geiger.
World Championship silver medalist Marius Lindvik (in the large hill) and another Norwegian were disqualified after it was revealed that the Norwegians had sewn in extra and stiffer thread in the seams. Even leaders and three more Norwegian jumpers have been banned after the scandal in Trondheim.
If the International Ski Federation (Fis) finds that Lindvik jumped with a manipulated suit in the normal hill as well, Germany's Andreas Wellinger will get the World Championship gold at the Norwegian's expense. In the event of a Norwegian disqualification retroactively, Karl Geiger will be the bronze medalist.
