"We should start the process now. I will bring this up at the next meeting of the ski association," she tells Adresseavisen.
Durhaug highlights that the Winter Olympics in Italy have shown it is possible to keep costs down through factors such as the geographical spread of the games and the reuse of sports facilities.
"We can't just be guests, we must also take our responsibility," she says.
In addition to Lillehammer, Oslo has also hosted the Winter Olympics (1952). The earliest possible opportunity is 2038. In four years, the games will be held in the French Alps and in 2024 in Salt Lake City, USA.
