The Norwegian former skicross athlete Audun Grønvold is dead, according to VG.
The Olympic Games bronze medalist became 49 years old.
According to VG, Grønvold was struck by lightning on Saturday and has died from his injuries.
”The loss is enormous”, writes the wife Kristin Tandberg Haugsjå.
The family confirmed the death to Hamar Arbeiderblad.
During his career, Grønvold took a World Championship bronze in 2007. Three years later, he reached the peak of his career when he took Olympic Games bronze in Vancouver.
Before his career in skicross, the Norwegian was an alpine skier.
