Since October 10, when the ceasefire came into effect, Israeli authorities have rejected 23 applications from nine aid organizations to bring emergency supplies into Gaza, the NRC said in a press release.
This includes tents, sealing and scaffolding kits, bedding, kitchen sets and blankets – a total of almost 4,000 pallets.
The window to protect lives in the face of the approaching winter cold is closing, warns the NRC, which is leading a humanitarian response in the strip. Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinian families in Gaza risk facing the winter rain and cold without adequate shelter.
"Winter is coming and the people of Gaza have no time to lose," says Angelita Caredda, Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the NRC (Norwegian Refugee Council).
