The Norwegian prosecutor tells NRK that he has filed an indictment seeking that the man be detained. This in practice means imprisonment with the possibility of the sentence being extended indefinitely if the person is deemed too dangerous to be released.
The Norwegian man was sentenced in the summer of 2024 to eight years in prison for aiding and abetting suicide, a sentence he began serving in the spring of 2025.
He was arrested by Swedish police in the fall of 2024 in Strömstad. At the time he believed he was going to kill a sick woman; he had described himself as a "serial killer," according to NRK.
Last year, Norway took over the investigation into the suspected murder from Sweden.
