Heavy snowflakes fell over Trentino during the classic cross-country ski race. For most of the seven-mile course, the skiers plowed through slushy tracks. The strongest in that event? Norwegian Kasper Stadaas - in a tough fight with Alvar Myhlback.

Myhlback, last year's winner in Mora, set his sights high for the endurance test in the Italian Alps.

"I'm going to win, that's the plan anyway," he told SVT before the race.

The 19-year-old will have another try next year, but he was extremely close to winning in a race that was decided in a dramatic sprint.

In the final climb he fought for victory until the very end and came third. Oskar Kardin finished fourth.

Jenny Larsson took third place in the women's race. Norwegian Emilie Fleten won for the third year in a row.
