The debate about VAR has been hot in Norway. Many, primarily supporters, want to abolish the video referee system in football.
The Norwegian Football Association is therefore starting an account on X where they will provide updates, explanations, and background to VAR decisions – during breaks and after matches.
There is also room for anyone to provide comments.
"We encourage a factual tone", the association writes in a statement.
Ever since VAR was introduced in 2023, the system has received criticism and earlier this spring the football association voted on whether to keep VAR or not. It became a clear majority in favour of keeping the technology.
