Erik Bergström was close to a minute behind – and it wasn't enough to reach the podium in the freestyle race. He finished seventh.
Italian Davide Negroni took the silver, 26.7 seconds behind Heggen. German Jakob Elias Moch secured the bronze.
The women's distance will be decided later in the day.
