The Norwegian "bonus prince" was detained at the beginning of the month for four weeks. He was supposed to be released on Monday, March 2, but that will not happen, Oslo police announced.
If an accused person is detained during the trial, the rules are such that the accused may remain in custody for up to several weeks after the trial has ended, Andreas Kruszewski of the police tells NTB.
The ongoing trial of Marius Borg Høiby, in which he is charged with four counts of rape, among other charges, is expected to last until March 19.
On February 1, he was arrested on additional charges of several violent crimes and was remanded in custody due to the risk of reoffending.
