Norwegian Biathlon Stars Bø Brothers Begin Farewell Tour in Stockholm

The Norwegian biathlon giants Johannes Thingnes Bø and Tarjei Bø got extra energy ahead of the three last biathlon competitions of their lives through the show competition at Stockholm Stadium. It was a fantastic tribute, moving and special to get it from the Swedish people, says Thingnes Bø.

Earlier this year, both brothers Bø announced that they would quit after the season. They will be missed, especially Johannes Thingnes Bø, who has dominated greatly in recent years.

Now they are starting their last period of competition, after a week's break following the World Championship in Lenzerheide.

And the start of their last journey was very successful, they both think.

It was a bit tough to travel here after only being home for a week. As a dad, it was extra tough since I was away for seven weeks after Christmas. But when we got here and saw everyone, it was okay. I got good energy in for the last World Cup event, says Tarjei Bø.

Running a Half-Marathon

It was also an extra honor lap after the competition.

I felt like a celebrity in Stockholm. I've worked my whole life to become that, and then it happened on the last day, he says.

Johannes Thingnes Bø says he is enjoying the last part of his career.

I'm taking all the impressions I can and storing them and just enjoying the last part, he says.

The younger brother is now chasing his sixth World Cup title. Then he will load up to run a half-marathon, Grue half-marathon in Norway, which Therese Johaug ran last year.

It will be exciting to try. It will be my first race, so I don't know about times and stuff, he says.

Hoping for the Podium

He also talks about a bid for Vasaloppet, but it's hard to know if it's serious or a joke. And he looks forward to meeting friends and eating good food.

Doing what others do.

Tarjei Bø hopes above all to get a good ending in the last race in Holmenkollen, where the World Cup final is held.

The goal is to get on the podium. Maybe I can also fight for third place in the World Cup, he says.
