The Norwegian local newspaper group Amedia is acquiring Berlingske Media, which owns, among other things, the venerable Danish newspaper Berlingske. The seller is the Belgian DPG Media.
The change of ownership takes place immediately, the parties write in a press release.
The foundation-owned Amedia, with a large number of Norwegian newspapers in its portfolio, is a media group with more than 1,300 employees that strengthens its position on the Nordic media market with the acquisition.
Amedia is also a co-owner of 65 Swedish newspapers through a 20-percent ownership in Bonnier News Local.
The acquisition of Berlingske Media gives us the opportunity to export our expertise as a leading media group in digital media development in Europe, says Anders Opdahl, CEO of Amedia.
