Norwegian AI finds victims, Sweden without the system

The police are manually working to identify hundreds of Swedish children in pornographic material. At the same time, Norway has developed an AI system that can perform the task in seconds, SVT reports. "While we talk about how important this is, children are still sitting alone, unidentified and crying," investigator Jonas Edin told SVT.

In Norway, police use an AI tool that draws on the passport register to suggest people who resemble a child the police are trying to identify.

Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) tells SVT that similar work is underway here, but that so far they have focused on perpetrators.

Now I think we need to consider what a process should look like to make it possible to identify crime victims with these tools, but we're not quite there yet.
