Norway’s Monthlong Train Drivers’ Strike Ends After Wage Deal

After almost a month, the strike by Norwegian train drivers has ended. The parties finally reached an agreement in this year’s wage negotiations.

The strike broke out on September 18 after negotiations between the Norwegian Train Drivers' Union (NFL) and train operator Vy stalled.

The workers will return to work as soon as possible, the union announced.

“We have secured control over work schedules and equal pay for equal work,” says Rolf Ringdal of the NFL.

From Saturday afternoon, most trains will run according to schedule, Vy and employers’ organisation Spekter said in a press release.
