The suspected man, who on Friday was remanded in custody by Vänersborgs District Court for another two weeks, is a 55-year-old Norwegian citizen.

He has previously been sentenced to prison in Norway for helping a woman commit suicide in Strömstad in 2023. He is suspected, in addition to murder of a woman in Trollhättan in September, of having also encouraged several people in Sweden to commit suicide.

"We have had continuous contact and good cooperation with Norwegian police and prosecutors. Now we have agreed that Norwegian authorities will take over the investigation into the incident in Trollhättan," says Vice Chief Prosecutor Carina Gustafsson in a press release.

The investigation into the encouragement of suicide – four cases in Norrköping, Nyköping, Västerås, and Stockholm – will, however, continue in Sweden.
