King Haakon, Queen Mette-Marit and Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra were joined by, among others, Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden at the funeral.
94-year-old Princess Astrid died on September 11, just weeks after her five-year-younger brother King Harald and two days after the king's funeral, which she herself attended.
A small piece of royal news came in connection with the funeral. A press release from the Norwegian court refers to Harald's widow, former Queen Sonja, as the "king mother."
According to NTB, this is the first time Sonja has been referred to by that title; previously, after Harald's death, she was called queen.
